Care for Leprosy Victims

Leprosy control program in Jyothinagar colony
God sees a leper as a precious soul. Looking through God's eyes, NASA works with leprosy sufferers who suffer social rejection. Lepers are feared and everyone despises the very sight of them. Millions in India are condemned to be beggars on the streets; to live and die on the footpaths. NASA found 120 lepers living under trees, railway platforms and footpaths in deplorable conditions. NASA, in collaboration with the government, constructed 32 twin houses on an 8 acre piece of land for these people and later developed it with internal roads, electricity, drinking water and other facilities. To help them with food, medical aid, clothes and other minimum needs we need $15 per person per month ($10 for food - $5 for medical aid, clothes and administration). Many leprosy patients now have a home, a community, and an identity in God through NASA.

Bringing serenity and peace through preaching the word of God to Lepers

Their community hall was destroyed by a series of cyclones and they are praying for reconstruction.
Due to cyclone damage, the church and community hall of Nazareth Ministries collapsed and although we have started we have not been able to complete construction of a new church for lack of funds. Now we are finding it difficult to conduct worship services for the Light of Love Home children and the leper community. We are praying to construct a church to accommodate 1,000 people that also serves as a community hall to conduct worship services, children's programs, youth retreats, pastors' retreats and other programs with an estimated cost of $50,000.

In 1985, NASA in collaboration with the government constructed 32 houses to accomodate 120 leperosy sufferers. These houses are now close to collapse due to recurring cyclones. The people are living in front of their houses or under trees fearing the houses will collapse. The government has agreed to contribute $1000 if the beneficiary contributes $1,500 to construct each house that will be more stable. NASA is working towards raising $48,000 to help build 32 houses.

Lepers Colony
Lepers are treated as untouchables and their living conditions are heart touching if one looks through His eyes. Heir main occupation is begging as many of them could not do any work due to loss of fingers and wounds, they live on the foot paths in miserable conditions.
During 1983 with the initiative of one of the Governing Body Members of NASA the Govt had constructed 32 houses for these lepers on a hill side in the outskirts of Tuni. |

Due to many reasons the houses were in the collapsing stage in four years
In 1989 NASA constructed houses for these people with tiled roofs. After a period of Twenty years the roofs were collapsing stage as the pests damaged rafter.
The West Side Church team, including the main Pastor Dan and Missions Pastor Schaun visited NASA. During their visit they met the lepers and saw the condition of lepers houses returned with great concern
During the visit of Dr. Premdas to WSF Church in June 09 the Church has presented a check fo $, 20,000 to reconstruct the roofs of 32 lepers houses.

Redemption Scheme
Lepers, very often are caused sickness. When they fall in sickness for several days they take $.10 to 100 loans from the money lenders at 20 or more percent of interest for their lively hood. To repay the interests and small loans they leave their huts and go to Gate way of India, the Tajmahal and many places those attracts the tourists.
Moonie Narayan and Bestsy Stewart members of the WSF Church visited the lepers community and several women being exploited and abused by money lenders. They heard their stories ..how the were being exploited for need of $.10 to….
