New Life Ministries - SHEBA The Director of NASA, Christopher Premdas, had the vision to extend NASA's area of operations to the adjacent districts which also have similar problems. For the purpose of legal and administrative convenience SHEBA, a sister organization to NASA, was started. SHEBA is registered under the Foreign Contributions Act, and the income tax exemption acts 12A and 80G. SHEBA is running New Life Children’s Home in a rented building for 200 children with the support of Westside Family Church. It is also running a school for them. To carry out the planned programs, SHEBA has purchased 6.5 acres of land in Visakhapatnam District and seeking to buy 3 more acres. SHEBA is responsible for meeting the legal compliances, reporting, accountability, administration and successful management of New Life Children’s Home.
New Life Children's Home started in 2007 with 200 children with the support of Westside Family Church in the U.S. All these children were street children, child laborers, beggars and orphans. It is expected that the number in two years will increase from 200 to more than 500 children. Thenarala village men migrate to Orissa state for fishing leaving their families behind. The tsunami in 2004 killed many of them. Dozens of children lost their fathers. Twenty-one children joined the New Life Children’s Home from this village. There are many such children waiting to be accommodated, but we are unable to meet the demand. New Life Children's Home, ChintalapudiIn the 1970's, the NASA Director's father encouraged a pastor to start a Children's Home in Chintalapudi, West Godavari District. After some time they lost support and the home was closed. Pastor Schaun Colin and his prayer team from Westside Family Church visited this village, the home village of Dr. Premdas who was here victimized by caste oppression and poverty in his childhood. Dr. Premdas asked Pastor Schaun to pray to restart the Children's Home. After two years, God led the prayer group towards a plan to restart the Children's Home. As of March 2009, 50 children are being cared for in the home, with monthly support of $500 from Westside Church and $500 from NASA. NASA has also agreed with SLA to contribute another $500 per month.
SHEBA’s Future Plans:
Long term Future Needs:
Ministry With People Suffering from Injustice and Oppression:
A home for mentally challenged children is needed in this area. Mentally challenged children need special love and only with a lot of patience and necessary equipment can they be brought up and nourished. Sometimes even a mother lacks this patience to deal with a mentally challenged child who cannot communicate, respond, or do things normally. Special equipment and trained teachers are required to deal with such children, apart from the land, infrastructure, and other requirements. NASA plans to take up this challenge in the near future and care for such mentally challenged children. |
